Connie May

Connie May is a retired Air Force officer with 26 years of total service. She entered the Air Force right after graduating high school in 1987 where she served 4 years as an Environmental Health Technician. Connie separated in 1991 but decided to go into the Air Force Reserves where she served 4 years as an Information Manager. While in the reserves, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in public administration and received her commission through the ROTC program in 1997, becoming a Personnel officer. She served in a variety of units such as: Stealth Fighter, Rescue, and F-16C/D Maintenance Squadrons and in different positions within Mission Support. Connie has also served as a staff officer in the Headquarters, Military Entrance Processing Command and Air Force Headquarters, DC.  She has also served as a Military Entrance Processing Station and Force Support Commander in garrison and deployed. Connie retired from the Air Force in 2015 and settled in Idaho. She started her new career path at the University of Idaho soon after where she studied plant science and Nutrition. Connie graduated in 2019 with both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant Sciences and in Nutrition.

In 2017, Connie started out as an Intern with the University of Idaho Extension, performing a variety of Agriculture related work. In 2018, she worked as an Intern researching the feasibility of a Veteran Beginning Farming and Gardening program. That work led to her becoming the Program Coordinator for the Harvest Heroes program in 2019, which she did until the grant ended earlier this year. She is now the Program Coordinator for the Farm to Early Care Education program working with Idaho STARS.

Connie is the Secretary for the Farmer Veteran Coalition of Idaho chapter and has been involved since 2021. Her goal has been to improve the access Veteran farmers have to resources, information, education, and training throughout the State.
