Jason Haglund

Jason Haglund, known as the “khaki farmer” for his impeccable style in the field, is not only a fifth-generation farmer but also a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in behavioral healthcare leadership and consultation. As a founding member of Rural Policy Partners, he provides invaluable behavioral health subject matter expertise, public policy analysis, and system design consultation.

Haglund’s roots in rural Iowa have given him a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by the community. He draws upon the wisdom passed down through generations on his own multigenerational family farm, the Hickory Grove Family Farm in Boone County, where he proudly carries on the agricultural legacy.

Beyond his role in farming, Haglund is passionate about educating others and has served as a mental health first aid instructor and an addictions counselor. His ability to navigate complex systems and connect with individuals has made him a trusted resource in the field, offering candid guidance through challenging policy requirements.

In addition to his professional expertise, Haglund brings a unique perspective to discussions on various topics, including stress management, emotional wellness, public policy, and burnout. He understands the demands of balancing the ever-evolving worlds of science, technology, and managing uncertainty, as they are essential for running a technology-informed, financially viable, and sustainable family business. When he’s not tending to his crops, Haglund enjoys a tasty peppermint mocha and cherishes quality time spent with his family.
