John Hoff

John Hoff

Long-time Idaho farmer, rancher, composer and inventor, John Hoff, enjoys playing his Rockin’ Cowboy Piano at every opportunity. Accompanying himself with bass drum, trumpet and hi-hat with tambourine, John brings to life movie & musical soundtracks, world music influences, his own life experiences, and country-inspired favorites in Floyd Cramer style.

Early days, John bartered his mom’s homemade meals for piano coaching with Skip Knape of Teegarden & Van Winkle. He has entertained Boise Tea Parties, the Weiser Lincoln Day Banquet, and Weiser Onion Skin Players as house pianist, among many other invitations to perform. He looks forward to sharing his creation, “Faster Planters, Bigger Tractors” with our 2024 Farm and Ranch Center Conference.

John’s potato farming career began near Idaho Falls at age seven. His inspired solutions to harvest breakdowns led to his passion for inventing chain oilers for every type of equipment, hand machined stainless steel shovels, hangar doors, tilting bath tubs and Rockin’ Cowboy Pianos. He continues to innovate new solutions for farming organic hay and grain and raises Black Angus at Jenkins Creek Ranch in Weiser, Idaho with his bride of fifty-four years, Christy.
