Potatoes

The following programs and requirements related to the growing of potatoes are implemented by the Division of Plant Industries:

Pale Cyst Nematode (PCN)

ISDA works cooperatively with USDA-APHIS to control and eradicate PCN in order to protect Idaho’s potato industry and ensure continued market access.

More information available on USDA/APHIS Pale Cyst Nematode.

Disposal of Cull Onion and Potatoes

As a protection for Idaho’s onion and potato production, the Division enforces disposal deadlines each spring for cull onions and potatoes. Proper disposal within the required deadlines is important to ensure control of reproduction of pests and disease.

Bacterial Ring Rot

Reports of Bacterial Ring Rot for seed potato plants or tubers that are confirmed by lab testing and still in the possession of the seed grower are required to be sent to ISDA. ISDA will then cooperate with ICIA on an investigation.
