The Bureau of Food Safety, Hemp, and Hops was formed in July of 2021. The Bureau maintains and works exclusively out of the Boise headquarters. The Bureau is the smallest in ISDA, but is able to serve all 44 of the state’s counties. Annually, the Bureau performs inspections and service on several different types of commodities. To provide this service, the Bureau supports six full time employees and up to 24 temporary employees.

Produce Safety

The Produce Safety Program regulates the federal standards for safe growing, harvesting, packing, and holding of fruits and vegetables in Idaho.

The Hemp Program regulates the production, processing, transportation, and research of industrial hemp in the state of Idaho.

The Hop Program provides official sampling, analysis, certification, and documentation for export.
