The Idaho State Department of Agriculture’s Organic Certification Program is an accredited certifying agent of the USDA’s National Organic Program. ISDA has been serving the state’s organic community since 1990, when the Idaho legislatures passed the Organic Food Products Law (Title 22, Chapter 11, Idaho Code). In 2002, ISDA became one of the nation’s first accredited certifying agencies. Today ISDA certifies organic operations throughout the entirety of the state of Idaho with a dedicated staff of 7.
The (FF&V) Bureau of Shipping Point Inspection plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and quality of fruits and vegetables throughout Idaho. Our dedicated team conducts precise and impartial inspections, offering third-party grading for raw products destined for processing. Additionally, we provide essential phytosanitary certifications for exports and conduct third-party food safety audits.
The Warehouse Control Program is responsible for regulating public warehouses, commodity dealers, and seed buyer facilities. Idaho’s agricultural commodity warehouse and seed industries store and market a wide variety of commodities such as wheat, barley, oats, dry edible beans, peas, lentils, canola/rapeseed and a number of other diverse seed crops grown in Idaho.
Weights and Measures is responsible for the accuracy and suitability of commercial weighing and metering devices; correct net contents labeling of packaged products by weight, volume, or count; investigation of short delivery or misleading advertising; and octane label monitoring.
