There are many rules/requirements that need to be followed for newly constructed, newly purchased, or new ownership transfers of Grade A dairies. All requirements can be found and must be met in Title 37-304, IDAPA 02.04.05, and IDAPA 02.04.30 before a permit can be issued by the Department.
A processor cannot accept milk produced from any Grade A dairy until a permit is issued by the Idaho State Department of Agriculture. Is a time-consuming task and all owners/producers should contact the Department in advance of the construction, purchase, or ownership transfer to ensure that no delays in obtaining your milk permit occur. The Dairy Bureau has put together a comprehensive list of the requirements to help producers through this process.
