Samples for Phytosanitary Certification
Tests required for Phytosanitary certification must be from an official sample.
Official samples must be drawn by a certified state or federal inspector.
To obtain an official sample, contact the Plant Industry Division Phyto Line to schedule an appointment with a state inspector.
Sample sizes vary by test. Please see the Services and Fee Schedule page for correct sizes.
Unless agreed upon prior to shipping, all samples should be untreated.
Samples for Unofficial Information
Unofficial submitted samples are not eligible for Phytosanitary Certificate purposes.
Samples pulled by the submitter, and not by an official, should be representative of the lot to be tested.
Appropriate sample sizes are listed on the Available Services page or can be negotiated with the lab directly.
Unless agreed upon prior to shipping, all samples should be untreated.

Rush Orders
Depending on workload, we may have a couple slots open a week that could be used for RUSH service when needed. It is important to note that this moves the sample(s) up in processing only. A rush order will not change the length of the test.
Guidelines:
- Rush fee will be $50.00 – fee will be added on as a service charge to the sample.
- To request a rush order, you must call and speak with Plants Industries or Plant Pathology Lab, and we will advise if there is anything available for that week.
- We will not take any rush requests by submission forms.
- No more than two rushed samples are permitted per customer per week and five total per month.
Samples received on Fridays may not be processed until the following Monday.
