Facility Requirements
The Idaho State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) regulates and enforces standards for Idaho’s domestic cervidae industry. Domestic cervidae are defined as livestock in the state of Idaho and include elk, fallow deer, and reindeer. ISDA’s role is to ensure cervid health through testing provisions and other oversight, including import surveillance, inventory verification and facility inspections.
Domestic cervidae facilities must be inspected and fully approved by ISDA prior to populating with cervids. Facility requirements are outlined in IDAPA 02.04.19, “Rules Governing Domestic Cervidae”. These requirements include fencing, gathering systems, annual inventory and record maintenance. If you have any questions regarding domestic cervidae facility requirements or if you would like to schedule a facility inspection, please contact us.
