Herd Certification Program

The Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Herd Certification Program (HCP) is a cooperative federal, state, and industry program that aims to control the incidence and interstate spread of CWD in captive cervids.  Enrolled herd owners must comply with the CWD Program Standards for five consecutive years to achieve a fully certified status. Although voluntary, participation in the program is required for the interstate movement of susceptible cervid species. Additional information can be found on USDA’s website.
