Buck The Trend

Idaho agricultural mental health forum

November 13-15, 2026

Mountain View Barn, Twin Falls, ID

Buck The Trend (BTT) is a 2-day training designed to address mental health challenges specific to farmers and ranchers. It is founded on the idea that small, peer-focused groups, hosted in a safe and relaxed setting, and led by experienced counselors is an effective way to nurture conversations, build skills, and affect positive change. The 20 attendees selected for this training will be equipped with the tools and skills to improve their own mental health and help those around them.

Please fill out the interest form below, and a BTT staff member will contact you to talk more about the event. If you have questions, email Anna Lickley, anna.lickley@isda.idaho.gov.

Is Buck The Trend right for you:

Timing

The ideal candidate for this training is an Idahoan who has looked around their farm, or the industry as a whole and decided to make a change, for themselves and their family and friends.

The BTT training will be held with a small group of participants. Only 20 Idaho farmers and ranchers will attend this training, and everything shared with the room will be confidential.

Our mental health and wellness impact not just us, but those around us, including family, friends, and coworkers. After the training, we hope attendees will also help other farmers and ranchers during challenging times.

Many of us have acknowledged that our work can be isolating and demanding and that there are cultural, logistical, economic, and social impediments to getting help and being well. This training will cover a range of topics, including ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences), and suicide.

Our Partners

Seeking counseling was the best decision I could make for my family. And Buck the Trend helped me learn how to help others in our industry.
