The Idaho Metrology Laboratory is currently recognized under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The laboratory maintains standards of mass, and volume; providing Echelon II and III traceability.

Fee Schedule

Calibrations are required to be scheduled. 

Scheduled calibrations will receive priority. Unscheduled standards received at the lab will be worked in as time and scheduling allows.

  • Customer makes shipping arrangements to Lab. 
  • Return shipments by customer’s choice of shipper must be arranged by customer after calibration completed.
    Returned shipments arranged by Lab are billed to customer.
  • Packaging items to prevent damage during shipping to the Lab is the customer’s responsibility. 
  • No foam peanuts may be used in packaging due to static generation. 
  • Large items sent by freight carriers must include a Bill-of-Lading for return shipping. 

Standards must be clean, painted if necessary, and in serviceable condition.  Standards must have unique identification numbers (i.e. serial numbers).  

Mass

  • Cast iron weights must have debris/rust removed, and  weights must be painted with aluminum paint (silver – avoirdupois, gold – metric).

Volume

  • 5-gallon test measures must be cleaned inside/outside. Gauge scale plate must be readable and attached with all security pins in place.
  • Type J Prover (bottom drop provers) must have swivel knuckle pre-loosened & vapor line needs to be disconnected.
  • Large volume provers must be cleaned and all fuel discharged from pipes/hoses.
  • Liquid Petroleum Gas provers must be purged and flushed with water, and all valves/connections pre-loosened.
    Drain plug (at bottom) and pressure release valve (on top) must be pre-loosened.
    Valve going into pump must be closed.
