Sample MUST be in a commercial anaerobe transport media/tube.

COLLECTION PROTOCOL

Aseptic collection. Take great care to minimize aerobic exposure.

Any sample containing a needle will be rejected.

Ship at room temperature--DO NOT pack with ice packs. Use anaerobe transport media/tube. If sending a liquid sample, package in leak-proof container with absorbent material.

This is a SCREEN to rule out anaerobes. Anaerobic cultures will be referred out for additional testing and fees. If desired, this test may be coupled with standard Aerobic Culture Set-Up and Aerobic Culture ID and their associated costs.
