Wildlife & Exotic Imports
New World Screwworm (NWS) has been identified in the following states:
- New Mexico
- Texas
All animals entering Idaho from one of these states require a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within 5 days of movement. Additionally, animals moving out of an Active Infested Zone require their movement permit number, issued by the state of origin, to be listed on the CVI.
These requirements are in addition to the standard entry requirements below.
All native and non-native wildlife and exotic animals entering the state of Idaho require, at the very least, a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) and entry permit or approved eCVI. Some individual species with additional requirements are listed below.
Raccoons, Skunks and Foxes can only be owned by a USDA licensed exhibitor or a fur farm. If you are wanting to import one of these animals, you must contact our office at 208-332-8540.

- Negative TB trunk wash within the past 12 months.

- Negative counterelectrophoresis (CEP) test (for Aleutian disease) within 30 days prior to import.
“Wildlife” includes any animal generally living in a state of nature.

- These animals may also require additional permits from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, call (208) 454-7646 before importing them.

- Deleterious exotic animals require an approved possession permit before an entry permit will be issued.
