Environmental/Nutrient Management Program

The Environmental/Nutrient Management Program is designed to minimize adverse impacts on surface or ground water.  Managing nutrients is a priority to protect agriculture’s economic viability & the environment.

E/NMP Process

A nutrient management plan is developed with a producer on a site-specific basis.  Information gathered during the one to two hour interview with the producer will supply the planner with the data to complete an initial evaluation of the facility.  The planner will draw a site map and delineate information for the land application site plan.  Producers can prepare ahead of time by completing the form  “Guidelines to Prepare for your Nutrient Management Plan.”  An exit interview is scheduled with the producer after the initial data is utilized.  Issues of compliance are brought to the producer’s attention and if the system is out of compliance, a schedule is determined.  Finally, a nutrient management plan is written.
